About TEF Practice

TEF Practice helps you prepare for the reading, listening, writing and speaking tasks in TEF Canada. It is built by OCX Software, the team behind CELPIP Practice. Our goal is to make regular exam practice easy to start, save and learn from.

What you can practise

• Fifteen original TEF Canada mock exams, each with 40 reading questions, 40 audio listening questions, two writing tasks and two speaking role-plays.
• Individual practice questions with saved answers, explanations and AI writing or speaking feedback.
• A 50-lesson TEF Canada course with 15 free lessons, an original study pack and French vocabulary you can save for scheduled review.
• A score calculator that converts TEF Canada scores to NCLC per skill and shows which programs those numbers open.
• The full conversion charts: TEF to NCLC, TEF to CEFR, the TEF IRN certification rules, and how Quebec differs.
• Format guides for all four TEF Canada components, and explainers for TEFAQ, TEF IRN and TEF Études.
• A blog written against the current rules, which flags what changed and when.

Developed with TEF instructors

TEF teachers help us write our course content and practice questions, and they check our scoring. We compare our AI with their grading on the same writing and speaking responses: the AI gives the same CEFR level more than 90% of the time. We keep running that comparison as we add questions.

We use official TEF practice samples, CCI's published exam specifications and assessment criteria to guide our question design and AI feedback. The questions, recordings and teaching examples on TEF Practice are original preparation content. Our exam guides link to the test provider's sources so you can check the format yourself.

Speaking practice is a live French exchange: you ask for information in Section A and respond to a friend's objections in Section B. AI feedback uses your actual writing or saved conversation and tells you exactly what to fix. Official TEF scores come only from an exam centre.

We are not a test centre and we do not sell sittings. Everything here describes the rules as we understand them at the date on each page. Confirm current requirements with the authority handling your application before you file anything.
