How to practise TEF listening
A simple routine for your next practice session.
Step 1
Choose your listening practice
Choose an individual question or one of fifteen full listening mocks. Connect your headphones before starting and check the time available to read each question.
Step 2
Try one uninterrupted listen
Read the available question information, play the recording once and choose your answer. Avoid pausing to translate individual words.
Step 3
Review with a second listen
Finish your practice to unlock transcripts, replay the audio and read the answer explanations. Identify the exact detail that supports the answer and save unfamiliar French words.

How long is TEF Canada listening?
Compréhension orale lasts 40 minutes and contains 40 multiple-choice questions. The recordings are played once in the exam.
Where can I find free TEF listening audio?
TEF Practice includes 600 original listening questions with French audio. Create a free account to save your attempts. You can also use the official CCI listening booklet and companion recordings linked on this page.
Can I replay recordings during the real test?
No. Practise making your choice after one listen. Replaying is useful afterwards when you are reviewing a sample and trying to understand a mistake.
Does TEF Practice have its own listening mock?
Yes. There are fifteen original listening mocks, each with 40 questions and a 40-minute limit. Recordings play once, the test advances automatically, and questions about the same recording appear together. Review transcripts and explanations after finishing.
