Revise for clarity and control
Revision should protect the meaning of your response. Focus first on contradictions and missing development, then on language errors you can reliably identify.
Step 1 of 3 · About 8 minutes in total
Learn the idea
01
Read for the reader
Check that each paragraph has a purpose. If two paragraphs repeat the same argument, use the space to develop a different reason. Replace vague references such as cela when the reader could reasonably connect them to two different ideas.
02
Check manageable language risks
Review verb endings, noun-adjective agreement and pronoun references. Check the construction of the verb: contacter quelqu’un takes a direct object, while parler à quelqu’un takes an indirect object. With avoir, a past participle agrees with a preceding direct object; it does not agree with an indirect object. These examples do not cover every pronominal-verb rule.
WORKED EXAMPLE
Les organisatrices ? Je les ai contactées, puis je leur ai parlé.
Les replaces a feminine plural direct object, so contactées agrees. Leur is indirect, so parlé stays unchanged.
03
Keep a personal revision list
After each session, note two recurring problems with corrected examples. Before the next response, review those examples. This produces a focused habit rather than an overwhelming list of every possible French grammar rule.
WORKED EXAMPLE
Draft: « Les habitants utilise ce service parce que ils travaille loin. »
Revision: « Les habitants utilisent ce service parce qu’ils travaillent loin. »
The revision corrects plural verb forms and the elision before ils.
